Why does looks matter?
One reason is..its biological.
In order to survive, species have to reproduce.
Vharles Darwin's famous theory of evolution includes the idea that the way an animal looks can help its reproductive cause.
Looks can help to:
Attract Potential Mates & Intimate the competition.
Humans are Animals too.
and we are likely to driven by the sae urge to reproduce.
So the theory is that we also look for potential mates with traits that indicate:
Health & Fertility.
Visible signs of health include:
- Smooth skin
- Good teeth
- Healthy hair
- symmetrical features
Visible signs of Fertility include:
- Youth(younger woman are more likely to be fertile)
- curves(breasts & hips are female secondary sex characteristics that become visible after puberty)(curves are mostly made of body fat, which is essential for reproduction)
What is beauty?
beauty is an IDEA! & everyone's idea of beauty is UNIQUE.
When IDEAS about beauty make powerful impact,they can become beauty IDEALS.
Our culture is stil influenced by this focus on beauty ideals.We see ideal beauty everywhere, from TV to Magazine.The ideals may evolve over time.Sometimes it can seem like beauty is all trying to live up to an ideal.....WHICH is prettymuch a hopeless persuit.
because.....
Ideas & ideals arent real!
YOU ARE!
